No down vote here. The problem isn't processing players at the last minute to get a bigger fish. Its trying to get the lineman period. Bama has I believe four top 15 linemen that committed months ago. Nothing to process when they are already on board. We have to do what we do best. Get low four star ranked linemen and high three star linemen and develop them.

I was speaking on the offensive line way more than the defensive line. LSU has nearly closed the gap on that front IMO but no where close on the offensive side of the ball. Here's just a small sample

quote:

Physical lineman who is starting at his second position – right tackle – in as many seasons with the Crimson Tide ... earned Freshman All-America recognition a season ago ... has 21 career starts, including eight at right tackle in 2020 and 13 at left guard in 2019 … helps anchor the right side of the Alabama offensive line that blocks for the nation’s No. 1 pass efficiency offense (202.8), No. 4 passing offense (358.1 ypg) and No. 33 rushing attack (177.5 ypg) among teams who have played more than four games … the Alabama front has surrendered just six sacks (according to PFF)

quote:

Redshirt Freshman (2020)

Versatile offensive lineman who can play multiple positions for the Crimson Tide ... played in three games (Texas A&M, Tennessee and Mississippi State), earning three snaps with the second-team line late in the game against the Aggies, two versus the Vols and seven in the State game.

quote:

Redshirt Freshman (2020)
Big-bodied offensive lineman who redshirted in his first season at UA after playing in one game a season ago ... saw his first minutes of the season against Mississippi State and followed that with seven snaps against Kentucky.

quote:

HIGH SCHOOL
Played tight end at Ruston High, but is expected to make the switch to tackle once he joins the Tigers ... Caught 22 passes for 360 yards and three touchdowns during his senior season ... Has the physical tools and footwork needed to make the switch to tackle ... Rated as the nation’s No. 14 offensive tackle prospect … Named to the 2018 All-USA Louisiana Football Team as an offensive tackle … Coached by Jerrod Baugh.

quote:

Redshirted as a true freshman in 2019 … Spent most of the year recovering from a preseason injury … Back at full strength for 2020 … Will provide depth at left guard … Third generation LSU Tiger, following in the footsteps of his dad Adam and grandfather Dan Hargett … His dad played on the offensive line for the Tigers from 1993-97, serving as team captain in 1997 … His grandfather played on the defensive line for the Tigers from 1959-61 … His mom, Heidi, threw the discus for the LSU track and field team from 1991-94.

Now if LSU can close with the following they're on their way but LSU misses a lot more on the offensive line.

But next year

You don’t think Alabama and Ohio State don’t have the same issues. Bama processes every year

Difference is they process guys and then get higher ranked players. We process guys and then get stuck with lower ranked guys because we burned bridges and don’t have the benefit of the doubt that those two schools.

The cornerback transfer this year

Transfers are fine, but I feel very confident that 4 years of Burns would have been better than 1 or 2 of Evans, who had to be benched for a guy who was fresh off surgery in game one. That particular move was the wrong one. The trade off was not in our favor.

Then thats on the LSU staff that can't close well or make the right decisions on getting the players.

Can’t agree more with you. Just stating facts. I will say this though, O his been doing his best to build our trenches back up especially on the defensive side. Dude needs to focus like a mother fricker at rebuilding our o line though because they have looked like shite this year.

Yeah, LSU needs to make the changes to develop the o line. Don’t know if it’s the coach Cregg or what. LSU looks horrible this year there. O needs to address
