Players quitting mid-season will be a common occurrence going forward

When players started sitting out for “meaningless” bowl games, some of us asked what’s the difference between that and regular season games once you’re no longer in contention for a championship. Hint: there is no difference. We were told we were overreacting to that trend. We weren’t.
Let’s be clear. Terrace Marshall isn’t “opting out” because of Covid or whatever other excuse. He’s literally quitting because his team is bad and he’s not interested in being a part of it anymore.
This will be the norm going forward at NFLSU. We already lead the country every year in losing draft eligible underclassmen. Now they won’t even bother waiting until the end of the season.
The culture in this program is rotten.

Reflection of his head coach.

To be fair, in a normal year the season is over.

So if a student has a scholarship and fails to fulfill an obligation of that scholarship, be it grades, maintaining employment, or pursuing a particular degree, the student loses the scholarship. Do athletes on athletic scholarships lose their scholarship if they refuse to continue participating in athletics? Or by the time they opt out is it financially irrelevant?

If worried about injury:
Why not opt out before the season?
Why play last night?
Why play football at all?

Do you think he’s staying in school?

Will the NCAA allow it once COVID is over?
