According to BRAF, they are counting all public and private golf courses:

That would include at least the following list:

City Park
LSU
Webb
Santa Maria
Beaver Creek
U Club
CCL
BRCC
Dumas
Clark
Copper Mill
Fenwood

My guess is they also counted:

Greystone
Pelican Point x2
Howell Park
The Island
The Bluffs
Carter Plantation
The Pines at North Park

Assuming a Parish population of 440,000ish, it would take 22ish golf courses. That's the only way I can get to that number.

Also, for the purposes of this, our peer cities are Jackson and Birmingham. So we have more golf than Jackson, but less than Birmingham, per 100,000 people. That isn't as good as it originally sounded considering we only have two peer cities.

It’s all propaganda.

They count courses inside of the entire metro area which conducts of nine parishes but only the population of one, That’s my guess.
EBR
WBR
Pointe Coupe
Iberville
Ascension
Livingston
E Feliciana
W Feliciana
St Helena
The population of those parishes was just over 800K in 2010 but they are apparently looking at EBR only to get their numbers to work.
