I’m just rational enough to not get excited about a close win over a shitty team, when we pay our coaching staff an obscene amount of money, and we’re one year removed from a national championship.

I'm not going to hammer you on this, but you DO have to understand- this isn't a normal season.

Yeah, we won a national title last season. We've lost the QB, RB, top 2 WRs, TE, and most of the starting O Line on offense; on defense we lost all the linebackers, most of the DL, and over half the secondary.

We lost our highly regarded defensive coordinator when he was hired by Baylor as HC, and replaced him with an outsider running a completely different scheme. We then lost spring and most of the summer, which is when that defense normally would have been implemented (at least to a functional level, where players have a decent understanding of the base concepts).

Our offense came out and performed fairly well, until our new starting QB got hurt 3 games into the season. Now we're starting 1 true freshman, ahead of another true freshman, in a QB-focused offense.

This was always going to be a rebuilding year, even before the Covid-related madness. That's just made things even worse (at least regarding current games). At this point, I suspect the season goal is to learn the defense and schemes, to be ready for 2021.

nobody expected a championship this year, but this team is flat-out terrible. So much so that we lost to MSU, Mizos, got pounded by an average Auburn team, and now we’re celebrating a tight win over another SEC bottom dweller

Sorry Scoob, but none of that is acceptable, not even this year. And I refuse to make excuses for it.
