I'm 70 miles inland as the crow flies.

Our metal shops have all held up great.

We were looking to build again after being held up for a year.

We usually just have an issue of some siding coming undone. I don't want to deal with it anymore.

Mueller looked like they had a good one. I just don't know of a builder or how a standard mortgage is.

I'm thinking 50x70 with half to shop.

I don't know much about the codes or builders or financing, but I believe around that size and house/shop split is where the $/sqft starts to look good. You can probably keep the house half under $100k depending on the trimmings and how much you DIY. Metal building will probably run $40-50k installed (maybe more depending on roll ups and insulation), and another $30-ish(?) for the slab.

Or maybe I'm talking out my arse, but that sounds about right by the conversations I've had with people with similar houses. Electric bills should be pretty low. And it's awesome having the entire roof of the house as a loft for storage or whatever.
