Who will have a closer opening game?
(McNeese @ N Carolina)
I think Mcneese @ N Carolina will be a much more competitive game.

I'll play Devil's advocate with y'all and say Appalachian State. Here's why...
If Armanti Edwards is healthy, he reminds me of a better Brent Schaeffer. We may actually be slightly better on the D-line this season (especially in terms of depth), and I think we might have slightly upgraded in terms of athleticism at LB and in the defensive backfield, but we have a lot less experience in those two areas. Also, we'll be playing with inexperienced QBs. App State will very likely put 8 or 9 men in the box on 1st and 2nd down hoping to put our young guys in 3rd and medium-to-long. I would feed them a little Trindon early and often to stretch those DBs and push their DEs to our tackles outside shoulders clearing up the inside running lanes... even if he's just used as a decoy.

If you have any faith in your sub divison. It would be that much of a strech due to the fact they are right behind yall in the rankings.

Given our speed at WR I think that could be suicidal. Even with an inexperienced QB.

I smell what you're steppin here, though.

We have great talent at the WR position, but it's worth the gamble for Appalachian State to beg us to throw the ball with a depth chart full of inexperienced QBs and a stable of quality runningbacks and a devastating run-blocking line (especially the left side).

Sub division doesn't mean anything...and neither does rankings...just ask Michigan...App is light years better than McNeese

According to espn last night during the green bay and cincinati game both lsu and appy state have new starting quarterbacks. AE must have graduated.

I dont consider any team better than the other until i see it on the field. I hope this year we meet yall in the playoffs. and see the light years yall are ahead
. hopefully you will cont back here and we will talk about comparing school then

Light years? That's a bit much.I don't think so.

Quite right. If you had to chose a point of attack, the only perceivable "weak link" would be our unproven ability to pass effectively. I think they'll be going from frying pan to skillet, though. And even if App St does have some success early with the game plan you prescribed (which I concede is possible) do you think its sustainable to the extent they may be able to keep the game close? I just think we'd be able to exploit that unbalanced approach very quickly.

Appalachian State isn't even the best team in their conference. They just got good the past 4 or 5 years. Georgia Southern is the powerhouse in that conference and will be. Win 6 national championships then you would be considered the Best in 1-AA
