I don't know much about the latest Vortex, but I bought a small pair (8x26?), as a spare set, many years ago when they were new on the block. I wasn't as impressed with that pair then as people seem to be now. I still have it and keep it in my truck, and use them when needed. Not terrible, but just always thought I was getting a better pair than I actually did.

Seems they've improved quality, based on some talk I've heard and seen.

For birding...a good rule that is suggested is that the objective lens size divided by the power equals 5. So, those 10x50s would fall into that. I've got a pair of Nikon Monarch 8x42s, primarily used for birding, that I've had for 15 or so years that I've been thoroughly pleased with.


Perhaps someone else can speak to that specific pair.
