When you fail, there is no “opting out” of the life that comes after. You don’t get a clean slate to try and start over.
There’s only 3 ways to “opt out” of society, and that’s death, homelessness, or prison. Otherwise, no matter how big you fail, you have to keep limping along for a long time to get back to a state of relative recovery and normalcy. Rock bottom isn’t the end, just the beginning for entrepreneurs.

the s/o doesn't understand when i say if my firm fails i have to learn another skill b/c i'm done with law

one of my friends from law school is trying without going that extreme. low living and a big brain focused on efficiency can get you pretty good
