The Hawks have emerged as a potential trade destination for New Orleans' Jrue Holiday in multi-team trade scenarios that would involve Atlanta's No. 6 pick in next week's draft, league sources say

More from Stein:

quote:

Any team trading for Holiday, of course, has to be cognizant of his contractual situation, with the Pelicans' guard -- regarded as one of the league's foremost two-way players -- expected to decline his $27 million option for 2021-22 and become a free agent after this season

Stein reporting it is pretty rock solid. So all of the smoke around Atlanta appears to be the real deal.

We want 6, and this is a multi-team deal with Jrue going to ATL.

That means there are a lot of moving parts here. A straight up trade with Atlanta seem to make sense, so with other teams involved I am intrigued.

Also Jrue

Gotta say, I didn't actually think Griffin would have the guts to get rid of Jrue.

The Jrue trade talk with Atlanta being aggressive actually makes more sense. When you think about it from the Hawks perspective, they probably see Jrue as a Klay Thompson type next to their Steph Curry. Not necessarily a shooter but a player that can D up on the other teams stud guard, and is willing to learn on offense to be effective.

Having a team with assets and a legit desire to not just want Jrue because he’s a good basketball player in the mix driving up the value could mean good things.
