2011 LSU. Should never have had to play Alabama again after beating them in Tuscaloosa. Would have destroyed Oklahoma state in the national championship.
ETA: Of course, this indirectly lead to 2019 so I’m at peace with it now.

Can't even compare those situations.
LSU got the opportunity to win it, they just failed to do so.
Penn State in 1994 went undefeated and wasn't even given the opportunity to play for the title. It's something that's happened quite a few times in history, but Penn State in 1994 is remembered because of how dominant that team looked.
