Stakes have been raised now that prepnation.com ranked Trinity No. 1 in the nation entering the season.

Sept. 1 vs. Euless Trinity (Texas)
66. John Curtis Christian (River Ridge, La.)

You think Curtis can pull it off? I know they busted up Hoover a while back, but I would they had a stronger team at the time. I haven't kept up with much Curtis lately how are they looking?

I see Trinity beating them soundly. Bigger, more physical, and they are just better(#1 in nation)

Isn't it being played at Nicholls?

Which team is JC playing at Nicholls?

I didn't know they have a game at Nicholls this year. The Cottonwood game that was canceled after Katrina was slated to be held there but I don't know of any for this year. Could be though...I've only seen the LHSAA schedules and they wouldn't list a game as being at a certain location - just H or A.

I had heard it was against a team from Florida

I'll look into it and find out. That won't be a problem.

Thanks for the heads-up. Looks like it's scheduled in New Orleans. I think it would be a mistake for Curtis to move a home game to Thibodaux. But that's just my opinion.

What's Curtis gonna do this year, clean?...No bullshite..
What are the O/D lines looking like?...Somebody told me Curtis gonna be huge this year and talented...I heard this bunch may be as good as the 2006 team on the LOS..
I'm going to try to get their spring game this year and check them out for myself though...
What's your take so far?...
For JT to schedule Trinity, Texas and North Beach, Miami he must be sitting on something...

Well, that's a good question. I've backed off from visiting the school since I learned that one or some of the coaches there don't like me.
I talk to a couple of players for articles on Scout and they feel like the key to winning vs. Trinity is just what you said - the sweathogs on each side of the ball.
On defense, I think Mike Henry will come into his own his year and do some big things. He's being largely ignorned in recruiting talk and hopefully he'll use that to his advantage and take it out on some opponents.
The o-line was the key last year. When Curtis lost, the o-line had a bad outing. When the Patriots won vs. Evangel and St. James in the last two games of the playoffs, the o-line was blowing people off the line of scrimmage. They lost the best lineman in B. Munch, but some of the unit is returning.
I would say both units will be solid but I don't think it's accurate at all to compare things to 2006. That team was the mother lode. Some of the propects on that team (Dufrene, English, Numa) were well below-the-radar because McKnight was so good that he got the lion's share of attention.
The linebacking corps has a great sleeper player in Jonathan Pippen, who made a big difference last year. He transferred from Georgia and is a rugged inside linebacker who is a little too short and a little too slow by the numbers, but he isn't too short or too slow on the field. He won the state wrestling title and you don't hear of anyone from Curtis usually wrestling (much less winning the state title).
The secondary has Porter and McKnight back but they have to replace three studs in Green, Smith, and Lauricella.
Let's just be clear that I'm a fan of John Curtis and I'm not affiliated with the school. I understand that I'm not wanted around there but I will still promote their players when and if I can. Fortunately, I'm still doing that right now.
