This is just so stupid. How does that show any more faith in his kicker than kneeling twice and then kicking the field goal. All kneeling twice does is preclude the Bears from being able to win the game (with the exception of a blocked field goal). As the OP said it was arrogant Payton, and it wasn't smart.

All of this. Player safety isn't a risk during a kneel down, so why not drain it all the way down to 30ish seconds then kick it on 3rd?
