The arrangement isn't unusual, but the way Austin was selling it in the episode I watched was weird. He kept referring to is as "my beer" and it sounds like the brewery formulated the recipe and brewed it. The way he phrased it, I had assumed he was a homebrewer and had created a recipe and sought a brewery to upscale the recipe, brew it, and distribute. Sounds more like he just slapped his name on a beer they formulated and produced. Again, not an unusual arrangement, but the show did a poor job communicating the arrangement.
