Cudi's Twitter
It's been 10 years since MOTM 2 was released. I don't listen to much hip hop these days, but early Cudi's mixing of hip hop with psychedelic rock plus his writing ability made his first two albums all-timers

Cudi is my favorite rapper.
He's emo and all that, sure. But he really is a great producer, and has a great sound, I consider him alt-rap
You listed all those but forgot:
The Pursuit of Happiness (Nightmare)

Tried to include some lesser knowns off those albums that are some of my favorites. Although Soundtrack was pretty mainstream.
Agreed, Cudi is pretty incredible. I'd probably put him right at the top of my favorite rappers too

One of the things he's underrated for is creating hooks and singing.
808s and Heartbreaks was mostly his vision.
Here's a good deep cut:
Too bad I have to destroy you now

I haven’t given a frick about hip hop since I was a kid in the 80s-90s, but his stuff is extremely catchy and enjoyable. He gets shite on by reviews, but I’d rather listen to his stuff every time over Kendrick Lamar.

i loved his first two albums in high school and early in college, as well as all his collabs with kanye. i'm worried he's (and me too, probably)just too... old to recapture that.
hopefully im wrong though.

MOTM III dropped this morning. First impression, it's pretty damn good. Definitely not better than Man on the Moon, but II and III I think are pretty close. Production is amazing. First half of the album has some good ones but overall sounded a little clubby for me, second half of the album is amazing. Sad boy Cudi returns.
The Void might make it's way into one of my favorite Cudi songs
The Void
Sad People

The album is FIRE
Home fricking run, the last half, holy shite.
You are sadly (no PUN intended) mistaken

Really good album. I wish some of the songs had been edited down a bit. It’s really long for a rap album, but I am enjoying it.

After listening to all 3 in order (I have I and II on vinyl) it's a perfect trilogy.
I is by far the best, and honestly my favorite hip hop album, and one of the best ever.
I agree that II and III are very close
Cudi is vastly underrated as a producer, this album is perfect from that standpoint. And sad Cudi is best Cudi
8/10 would have it higher if he had better hooks, his rapping is phenomenal but when Cudi sings/hums he's at his best

I think the artwork is a depiction of the album structure. First half is normal, mainstream hit type Cudi music. Second half is the emotional, moon boy stuff that really sets him a part. Incredible album and proud how far he’s come the last few years.

I had this exact thought listening to it and couldn’t agree more. This is easily Cudi’s best album since MOTM2 and a worthy “end?” to the trilogy. Not as good as the original, but that’s not a knock since MOTM is one of my favorite albums ever.
Earlier reviews are spot on imo, 3 is decent at first then fantastic from Mr. Solo Dolo III onward.

Wow. Just found out about this . Really enjoying so far. Man in the Moon is one of my favorite rap albums. Absolutely blew me away. Can anyone recommend any similar artists?
