When I first moved back to Louisiana I had to get my vehicles and boat trailers changed over to Louisiana plates.
Went to the DMV it was a 4 hour wait in BR at the independence location.
- two vehicles they did not screw up
- on boat trailer screwed up a year later found out a dump truck trailer had my plate and I had theirs. Got a letter in the mail from DMV around a year later.
Had to go back to DMV and wait 3 hours to get it fixed and finally had a supervisor look at their letter to fix it.
- other trailer had the wrong paperwork they screwed up as someone had a travel trailer with my plate.
They sent me a letter in the mail admitting the mistake 3 yrs later. I ignored it as it was not certified and I was pissed about the last plate being screwed up.
They called me eight times.
I told them they had to come to my trailer pull it off and give me the correct plate.
I have to admit they sent a state trooper out at my schedule, the trooper apologized, and gave me the right plate. I pulled the other plate off and gave it to him as he was professional. He gave me my new registration to match the new plate.
So far DMV out of 4 license plates screwed up two transactions plus the wait time back then was horriable.
Now I use those notary title places and so far have had no issues.
As far as license renewals I been to New Roads and Assumption Parish dmv locations. If they are not doing driver’s test these locations are fast.
