$262M for an R rated comedy in 2006 with no real plot and an actor mainly known from his Ali G skits and no one else is pretty insane. It finished 15th in box office that year, the highest grossing comedy. Like it or not, the movie was extremely relevant

For comparison to other comedies around same timeframe:

Superbad $170M
Old School $87M
Step Brothers $128M
40 Year Old Virgin $177M
The Hangover blew by them all at $469M
