Postmodernism and our current political climate.

How much has postmodernism/relativism contributed to the current political climate. I am beginning to think it has more than l've realized. I've tended to focus on what is objectively true but I have started to realize that is a losing battle because I'm playing by outdated rules. People create the truth they want to see and it's dang near impossible to get them to see differently. Throw in a press that also has no commitment to the truth and it feels like a losing battle.

Postmodernism/relativism is the horse most of our politicians ride to get them to a place of power, prominence and wealth... But it doesn't mean they actually buy into the philosophy... Its merely a means to an end...

Objective truth can be ignored for a little while but sooner or later it catches up with you. You simply can't escape it... Most people instinctively know this...

I noticed this within the last month or two as well.
I’ve always hated postmodernism in the arts for whatever reason but I hate it even more as a guiding principle for life in general
ETA: I equate it to trying to build a skyscraper on quicksand rather than bedrock. You need to have fundamental truths and constants.

I don't think it's the driving force. Most of these leftists don't think that deeply. They FEEL. And the driving feeling is equality and fairness over freedom.
The big link is the increase in female political power. Europe went first into the toilet with female leaders and now the US is getting there.
Females value equality and fairness and they don't give a shite about freedom because it scares the crap out of them.

That a great take but do you not think that has roots in Postmodernism?
