Ok how about this....we pull a defensive “Brady” and go get a young gun defensive guru to “assist” Bo. Not nearly the financial investment and can turn it around fast
It’s not a terrible idea on its face, but I’m not sure Pelini has the ability to put his ego aside like E did last year. And that’s not a knock, most good coaches wouldn’t be cool with that. But there may be more input in game planning from guys like Bush and Raymond, and maybe some of the defensive analysts.
I’ve also thought it would be smart to have some of our offensive analysts self scout our defense and tell them where they see holes and where and how they would attack our defense. I always thought Miles and O before last year, should have had Aranda in on offensive meetings and give his opinion on why things may or may not work and why.
The point is they have to find a way to stop being so reactive and start being much more PROACTIVE. See things before they happen and make sure they don’t. I remember Kevin Smith telling a story about Wayne Gretzky. I don’t remember it verbatim, but the gist of it is that you don’t follow the puck, you go where the puck IS GOING TO BE. You have to be able to anticipate to be successful.
