I was a freshman in the band in 93. Linda Moorhouse was away from the band that year finishing her post graduate degree. We have John Laconata (sp.) from Auburn come in and take her place. The marching was sloppy and undisciplined, and the drills were pathetic. Moorhouse is a large reason why the band is as good as it is. When I was there she ran the practices, not Wicks. She also writes all of the drills. Believe me, if she left, you would see a difference in the quality of the band.

I was there as well during this time when Linda was away. The marching and overall discipline of the band suffered for it. I couldn't agree with your more. When Wickes retires or drops dead, whichever comes first, she will take over the band dept.

Trust me, I wasn't trying to knock on any of the current or past band members. I think you do a great job. Like the guy was saying before, we have to pay so much money just to attend the football games it's hard to pony up more for the band. They should be helped out more through TAF or someone that makes money off of all the bowl games and the championships.

The reason I and a lot of people I've talked to blame Moorehouse is that she is the face of the band. No one knows what goes behind closed doors with the administration. LSU has been having those cheers for years and others on here will admit that the student section was just as bad if not worse in past decades. I didn't even know that the actual cheer was "L-S-U" and not "kick their arse" until a couple years ago. Check out the thread about the Wisconsin students and search youtube for Duke student sections' cheers. Then the LSU bookstore is allowed to make obscene references when we play USC on t-shirts, but it's a capital crime when the student section makes up a cheer.

We're also very disappointed with the music selection for the halftime shows. I think you even did the same Journey song a couple times last year? Either way, I know you put a lot of hard work into what you do and you're very proud of it, but some of us are less than satisfied with what we see and hear as fans.
