My company sponsored plan through BCBS got so out of control I had to drop my wife and daughters off my plan and had to get them a stand alone (short term medical) plan. It can be renewed annually for a total of three years then I’ll need to re-examine my options. My company pays 90% of mine so I pay a total of about $65 per month. The stand alone policy costs $693 per month so my savings amounts to about $700 per month.
The coverage is not quite as good and the deductible is $6000 but it’s still a $40 copay for PCP and for specialists and $10 for generic RX’s.
Healthcare costs are straight up batshit crazy nowadays and if this is largely caused by corporate greed, shame on those assholes responsible.
