NIL (and marihuana decriminalization)

Woodward needs to put LSU at the forefront of NIL to help with the football program's attrition problems and LSU should back decriminalization for the same reason
Florida passed a law allowing college athletes to profit from use of their Name, Image, or Likeness (NIL) recently. I think the opportunities for college athletes to profit would be even better for smaller states like LA, MS, and AL where there's less competition and more homogeneous populations. In big states like FL, TX and CA like half of the population is made of transplants or immigrants who dgaf about local teams.
Weed: ridiculous that it's still illegal considering that alcohol, tobacco and many prescription drugs are much more dangerous. What college student hasn't smoked at one point? Decriminalization would be a huge boost to the state's tourism sector as well.

You want our state college athletic director to lead the charge for marijuana decriminalization?

agreed, but you're posting this on the LA sheriff's union fansite so you're gonna get a lot of pushback

Yes. Or maybe CEO can privately convince JBE since they're such good friends. As long as there's a Democratic governor there can't be any bad publicity for either, right?

wait until people realize the women’s Clothes Ironing team can’t make anywhere close to as much money as football and it will all get shut down.

It's easy to play football without tokin weed. Thousands have done it, not hard.

You can smoke weed whenever you want in illinois.
California started the nil discussion.
Those states are controlled by...democrats. not a political issue.

Thousands of people have played college football without drinking a beer. Should that apply too?

Duh. It should've be either/or though

You can also smoke weed and be a valuable contributor to society.

Are you high? Nobody permits or promotes the use or selling of those other products you mentioned to players either. How does allowing something that unmistakably inhibits your athletic performance help anybody on a football team? And why are you injecting more politics into our football program? You people are unreal.

We have been bitching for three days about how poorly our guys played being weed-sober... imagine what these guys will be like under routine recreational influence.
Also, imagine your HC going into living rooms across the country saying I will take care of your son in your absence at our school but guess what we have free weed!

Not politics. NFL took weed off the table in new CBA.
It's just the direction things are headed. Sorry.

Not sure if you're serious, but tons of former nfl players say that weed serves as a huge pain reliever and many say it helped their career because it got them off pain killers. It's very valuable to professional athletes on top of all the fun stuff

weed is still covered by the NFLs substance abuse policy and it is politics. You wanna use the athletic department to extort the legislative process.

So weed is the only pain deterrent? If you’re ignorant enough to believe it has no harmful effects, especially athletically, you’re a lost cause and your logic isn’t actually logic, it’s silly child like justification.

Lots of folks have enough trouble functioning sober. Don't need my pilot to be high at 20,000 feet, no thanks.

It's certainly a lot better than horse tranquilizers and any of the other shite they shoot players with. Acting like it has ZERO benefits is just ridiculous.

Let's be clear. Not promoting it. Should be legislated like alcohol.
If florida is allowing it. Things are changing.
State budgets in terrible shape everywhere.
Legalized sports betting and legalized weed is coming.
Because it brings in money to state budgets.
One color in america. Green.
