The info is easy to get.

Quintana Roo will move to the orange stoplight. Public beaches in Cancun will reopen on September 7. The use of face masks in public is mandatory. Only one person per family may enter essential businesses. Officials may issue fines and/or arrest and detain individuals found to be in violation of stay at home orders.

Transportation limits remain the same. Transportation restrictions are as follows: one person per motorcycle, four people per private vehicle, three people per taxi, and public transportation is operating at 50 percent capacity. Public schools started virtually in August 2020 and will resume in-person classes when the state is designated green in the national stoplight system.

Maximum capacity under the yellow stoplight state system:

• Administrative services to 75 percent.
• Open air gyms and athletic clubs to 70 percent.
• Indoor gyms to 50 percent.
Hotels, tourism, recreation, beaches and public parks, religious services, hair salons, malls, and cinemas to 60 percent.
• Schools, bars, clubs, and nightlife activities remain closed.
Alcohol sales are allowed under the following parameters:

• Convenience stores and supermarkets: Monday to Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. and Sundays 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Restaurants: 10:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.

Cozumel: Effective September 7, Cozumel has in effect a nightly curfew from
11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

Cancun

The goverment of the state of Quintana Roo has announced last weekend that the Epidemiological Risk Assessment for the Mexican Caribbean will be in the “yellow” color from September 20th through the 27th. (This risk assessment is updated weekly, we can keep it yellow from the 14th onwards if we continue to take care).

For those of you visiting us from other countries, the Epidemiological Risk Assessment used in Mexico works on a color scale indicating different levels of risk for Covid-19 contagion. The 4 colors are: Red (total lockdown), Orange (small-scale partial reopening, this is where we have been for the last couple months), Yellow (medium-scale reopening) and Green (back to normal)

The constant and continuing decrease of cases in the state has given the authorities the reassurance they wanted to continue with the reopening of the Mexican Caribbean. In this new phase beaches and other outdoor activities are finally allowed to reopen with up to 60% capacity; the same limit now applies to hotels, restaurants and theme parks as well. Up to now most of these could only reopen to 30% of their capacity. It is worth mentioning that nightclubs, bars and other nightlife activities remain closed and will continue to be so for the foreseen future.

The following preventive measures will be in place in beaches during this phase of our reopening:
Maximum guest capacity will be 60%
Open from 9am to 5pm only
Controlled access: visitors must join in the entrance queue, keeping the minimum safe distance between other guests. In order to access the beach they will need to use anti-bacterial gel (provided here) and have a temperature of 37.5C or less (99.5 F)
At this time groups are limited to a maximum of 5 people
Food is not allowed
It is important to be aware that if we all do our part we will not only keep the Risk at yellow level, but eventually move it to green for a complete and safe reopening of the Mexican Caribbean and it’s many attractions. Visit us regularly for updates about Covid-19 in your favorite paradise destination.

Isla Mujeres

quote:

Pinto Aguilar added that visitors to Isla Mujeres beaches will be prohibited from bringing alcoholic beverages. Beachgoers are expected to keep the healthy distance of at least 2.5 meters and respect the various spaces defined for each person. Beach visitors must arrive with a mask and sanitizing gel. Groups of five people are the maximum allowed and all visitors must pick up their garbage before leaving.

She is reminding people that the yellow light is not an invitation to go to beaches, so those who do not have to be on them should avoid attending to continue controlling the spread of the coronavirus.
