Can you put a hot pot on it like granite?

Yes, but it's softer than granite. Pots could scuff/scratch/chip the dolomite

I have quartz and I like it because its really solid and hard but I was told that you can't put hot pots on quartz because it may cause discoloration. I'm not sure how true that is because I always put the pot on a stove mitt or something.
