I went rabbit hunting with a friend years ago. One of his Beagles was bitten by a large canebrake (yes, we found and killed the snake). The dog was brought to the vet, but she did not make it.

I lost a GSP to a moccasin bite a couple of years ago, but some nontypical things made it out of the ordinary. She was bit on Jan 30th out hunting, bit on the foot after a long cold snap. The bit caught her in the artery on her leg and the snake was small.
