Rivals

Not the most exciting news, but we really need a punter. I wonder if this is any reflection on the current status of the kicking game. I was at the Spring Game and the Punting was terrible (And that is about as nice as I can be about it). Just when you think you know who the last spots are going to, you get a punter. Welcome aboard man.

So let me get this straight...This will give us 3 scholarship kickers and we are choking on offering guys like lacy and sentimore because of grades. I know this is a punter and the other two are place kickers but still. Can't you teach a friekin place kicker to punt.

wow...not the year for a JUCO punter.

I can't believe LSU couldn't find a high school punter. Now we get a grand total of 2 years and then have to start looking for another one.

Two very different skill sets, especially on the college level. Hell, even in the NFL. It didn't work out too well for the Falcons in 2006.

well problem is noone wants to give schollies to kickers, but are pissed when they miss field goals/shank a punt. they are important to the team. we ned them to do well to win. its not sexy, but necessary. we are not the only program to give kickers full rides.

If they give a scholly to this guy the coaches know something more than us. Not just how good this guy may be but the total number of players they will sign in this class.

I have no problem with a punter, but why not take a high school prospect so that you have the punter position locked up for 4 years, rather than two?

Not to mention...

He has a 35.6 yard average.

Was it just me, or did he appear to have an "average" leg at best. It DID appear as though he "possibly" could have good hang time. But I'd like to see a clock before I went on the record as having said that. I DO know that I saw very few long kicks. I just don't get this. I want frigging, C. Michael, D. Sentimore, E. Lacy (well, maybe this is a stretch), K. Appelton, C. Williams, K. Brent. I sure hope this kid doesn't stop us from getting one or more of these kids.
