You do realize that 30,000 people will have been given the vaccine before even the very first patient outside of the clinical trial could receive it right?
30,000 is a drop in the bucket. It tells you nothing about real world safety.
It took 20 million people to take Vioxx before it was pulled from the market after causing 38,000 deaths from myocardial infarction.
How many terrified people do you think would line up to take a vaccine in the first 6 months it was available in this crisis?
My guess is 500 million worldwide.
If it is 50% safer than Vioxx it would only cause about 475,000 deaths.
Roll it out boys!
There is money to be made!

The world we live in today...
One potential, unverified, adverse reaction in a clinical trial leads to:
"SEE! THIS IS WHY I'LL NEVER TAKE A VACCINE, THEY WERE ALL LYING!!!!!"
Un-fricking-real the idiocy that pervades our society. Can anyone wait for anything nowadays, without instantly going to an extreme? Apparently not.

It does, actually. The trials are powered specifically to assess both efficacy and safety in large populations.
