There’s a disconnect between what the White House is saying publicly, and what the White House task force is telling states in their weekly report to them.
It’s plausible that Trump isn’t fully aware of the disconnect, but as this went public 2 months ago, there’s no excuse for him not to know it or address it now - especially given that his Vice President leads the task force. Ultimately, the buck stops at the top. If the Vice President is flat out lying to him, than he’s at fault (in some capacity) for picking that VP and assigning him to that task force. It’s the catch-22 of any military command and the Commander-in-Chief shouldn’t be excused from that paradigm.
