Trump has never, that I can tell, just randomly shite on a group of people viciously, particularly something like veterans or war heroes. It makes no sense and doesn't align at all with his personality. When you see Trump for who he is - a vanity-driven guy who basically loves those who praise him, hates those who criticize him and ignores everyone else - this story doesn't ring true.

This is a good post, but what I think the issue is that people are interpreting his alleged remarks as something with malice. But reading Jennifer Griffin’s reporting at least, and she doesn’t mention “losers,” (which may be more malicious) his remarks were:

He would be right that it’s a stupid war. And remember, he was able to get his way out of service with his bone spurs (don’t blame him). So I could see him thinking those that didn’t get out of it as “suckers,” and it’s not specific to those who lived or died. That sounds exactly like Trump, not malicious but flippant, and I actually kind of understand why he would think that. I mean it sounds like something a vanity-driven guy would think: “I got out because I’m smarter than those suckers.”

Regardless, Trump is Trump. This is not a needle mover one way or the other for me. In fact, wanting to “sell” our troops and their services to Saudi Arabia like mercenaries, was far more disturbing than just another asinine Trump remark.

In fact, I’m now kind of annoyed remembering that because the outrage over that idea was far less.
