I went with this option 5-6yrs ago in my master. It’s on the south side of the house with 3 south facing windows. It always seemed to be 5° hotter than the rest of the house. Once I put the film on the windows and blacked out my screens, it helped out tremendously! So if you have many south facing windows, this could be a potential fix.

I installed an attic gable fan in my single story ranch. My attic temps dropped 15-20 degrees and the AC no longer runs all day on the hottest couple of months. House was built in 1974 with shitty windows and about 8" of blown insulation in the attic.
