re: Are there any HS officials on this board? How hard to be football official?

I did it when I got out of college

I went to “clinic“ with all the other officials in my area a few weeks before the season began. Obviously, you have to know the rulebook. Clinic is where you learn the minor differences in rules between pro and HS.

I took a rules test, passed and was officiating JV games soon thereafter. In my area you needed two years of JV experience before you would get booked for varsity games.
