If people had any sense of history at all or for that matter any sense of world politics they should have understood that the primary threat wasn't directly from the government. It was from the government tacitly sitting by while it's followers attacked people it doesn't like. I mean that crap was going on in Venezuela just so year or two ago.
The government doesn't have to actually do it itself. It simply has to give a free pass to those who do

I have always been a supporter of the 2nd amendment. I just don't hunt and did not grow up around guns. I have handled firearms of all sorts before. I just never owned one, never thought I needed to until recently.
