From all I've read, it looks as though there is no intention to leave the EPL, but to compete with theses other teams in a mid-week format. Which in turn puts UCL competitions in jeopardy, but not the domestic league.
If you haven't, I'd listen to Gary and Rio's commentary over the last day. There isn't uproar over will might happen to the pyramid just because the teams that win the UCL (14 of the last 16, with the 2 exceptions being Bayern) want to get more money.
