A 7.62 AR is quite a bit heavier and ammo is much more expensive. The ballistics from a 5.56 round are more than adequate to get the job done. Also you have to consider the carry distance of the round if it flys through your intended target. In this situation a 5.56 is probably the better round. Sitting back a few hundred yards and taking long shots, I’d take the 7.62.
