Down here because of a death in the family and want to go fishing. I don't own a boat anymore. Thinking Leeville old HYW 1. Any better spots or advice? Thanks!

as fall approaches, the marsh off hwy 1 should improve. just bounce around spots till you catch something.

You might get lucky
But this time of a year after a storm the odds will be against you
We will have to see what Laura decides to do, but by Saturday you may find some spots off elmers island road where the water is falling out hard. That’s worked for me in the past after storms
If you’re staying around for a few months, October-January or so la1 turns on fire

I couldn't resist.
There are places along Old Highway 51 between Hammond and Laplace.

No. With storm and everything. Looking at Tuesday. Did have an excuse to buy some new gear, though.

Went today. We kept 4 specs and 3 Reds. Caught a ton of fish but vast majority were too small or not what we wanted (white trout). Fished the lights from 2:00AM and then all over between Grand Isle and Leeville. Elmer's Island beach was too rough and there were jellyfish washed up everywhere. Bought live shrimp and croakers and caught minnows. Minnows using a Carolina rig was the best for the keepers. We left around 4:00PM.
