I struggled with it because the pearl definitely looks nicer and is more our vibe as a hotel, but it's set so far back off the beach and the pool is unappealing. Plus the pearl wants the same room rate for a 2nd floor pool view that I got a 4th floor beach view at the WC Inn.

I like WC better, fwiw. I think I'm in the minority because I've never been impressed with The Pearl at all. It's not all St. Joe's fault, some of it is the type of people who seek out The Pearl.
In fairness, I think they're both (Pearl and WC Inn) somewhat mediocre for what they purport to be. The overall experience is fine, but I think the absence of meaningful competition is obvious in the quality/service. Not to knock your vacation (it's often where we stay as well).
