at the hotel monteleone in line to check in at about 11:00 in the morning. Guy in front of me says to the girl at the desk "I just flew in from LA, I really want to shower before the game, can you let me into my room?" (It's the Saints Rams game). She says sorry sir can't let you into your room until 3:00. Guy says that's no good, I just came in from LA, can I please get in my room. Girl says sorry, can't do it. Guy reaches into his pocket, pulls out a $100 bill. Says come on, I just flew in from LA. I just want to shower. She says "just one moment sir." Goes back to talk to her girlfriend for a minute. Comes back and says "Believe it or not something just opened up." Got damn if that baw didn't get taken straight to his room.

I’ve been doing shite like at hotels, restaurants, etc. this for decades in the city. I thought it was status quo until my first time in New York. We were wanting to get into some high end steak house without reservations. Pulled out a hundred and started to hand it to the host and she said I’ll take the money but we still don’t have seats. Realized real quick New Orleans is...different

You can do the same thing in NYC. It just takes more than $100
