New Roads isn't a bad little town. Not much to do but fish though.

I just remember they had a really awesome old victorian house that was supposedly haunted. Uncle had just graduated from LSU with his chiropractor degree (trashy, I know). He was originally from New Roads and his parents still live there.

Now that I think about it, wonder if my uncle is on this forum....

In the 50's, 60's, early 70's it was mafia run. The mafia had the smarts to know where the line was on extortion when it came to corporate business. In comes the likes of Moon Landrieu, Morial, Barthelemy, etc. and it was a full on shakedown of corporate business. Adios business culture(permanent dollars residing there), hello tourism(temporary dollars in and out). Well done NOLA, once remembered as a jewel of the South, now just a stain on the South.
