Drone - Mavic Pro 2 vs Mavic Air 2...

Looking for advice, I am thinking of purchasing the Mavic Air 2, I would like the Mavic Pro 2, but I think it's probably a little more than I am willing to pay. Interested to hear opinions on what I might drop in camera quality. I know the Mavic Air 2 has a 1/2 lens (rather than the 1 inch on the Pro 2). But realistically will I lose a huge amount of image quality between the two of them?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I have an Air 2 and a mavic mini. I will tell you that most of the drone community that own pro’s are upset because the air 2 has all the cool stuff with a lower price tag. The only downside is the size of the camera. Air has a 1/2 inch and pro has a 1”.
If you are a serious photographer looking for serious photographer quality, the phantom line is what you should be looking for. If you are just a hobbyist looking for cool shots with great quality, the air 2 should be your boo.
I honestly don’t see a reason at this time to get the pro. The price vs what you get just isn’t worth it while the air 2 is available.
I say all that to say this. The air 2 is a very very powerful drone for any price range and I would recommend that over anything else unless you are a professional photographer.
Also, without question, get the fly more combo. 1 battery just isn’t enough for anyone to do anything with except fly around and look at your neighborhood.

How is the Mini for general tourista-type photos for short duration flights?
How is the photo quality and maneuverability in slight winds of 7-8 kts?
Not looking for professional quality photos by any means.
I use a Phantom Pro for aerial photos, but never flown any of the Mavics.

Thanks Jibba, that was a really helpful reply.

The mini has a good camera and it is a great travel drone. I love mine. The only place that it kinda sucks is the beach because it does not handle winds above 15mph well at all.
The mavic mini does most of what I need. Truth be told, the only reason I got the air 2 is I wanted more range. The mini goes out about 4000 feet away with no difficulty. The air 2 gets about 2 miles before I notice lag.

Absolutely a very solid drone in this kind of wind. It really only starts getting iffy in 12-14mph sustained winds.

I’m in this boat. I have to buy one soon, but leaning toward the Pro 2 because I need the higher IQ for late evening shots. Disclaimer: I’m a professional photographer and part 107 pilot. If it weren’t for that, I’d take the Air 2 in a second.

yeah, that is why I'm on the fence, I'm a high end amateur photographer, (I'm a meteorologist) and I want some nice pics of cloud, and I'm worried that the Air 2 won't give me enough contrast in the sky, especially if there is a darker foreground), so leaning a bit more towards the Pro2. I don't think I want to part ways with the cash for a phantom, although I would love to.

If you are a serious photographer, you could almost certainly justify the pro or the phantom. The air 2 does have filters that come in the fly more combo that should make bright sky photography manageable. I am not a serious photographer so I have never really used the filters.
I just enjoy the flying.
