Are those kinds of things Netflix driven, or giving producers freedom and the producers leaning that way? I would imagine if Netflix is skewing the creative direction of a production, it's more about appealing to an international audience than catering to US PC. They are up to 193 million subscribers worldwide. "Only" 73 million of those are from the US.

The show is already basically Chinese folklore and is very popular. I don't see how race swapping would give it a more international appeal. If anything it will turn off the Chinese audience. They really don't want to see a black Avatar.

What's the single country with the biggest subscriber base? I'm willing to bet it's USA.
