He had to let him loose. The Malveto defense was pure fecal matter. Who else did he have? Hatch? Jefferson?
Miles apologists also suggest that Jarrett Lee “broke” Les Miles. Maybe Les broke Lee. A great coach wouldn’t be mind fricked by a bad experience with a quarterback.

Not sure if it would have turned out any differently for Les, but Perrilloux is a big factor in all of this. If he doesn't get kicked off the team, we don't play Hatch and Lee right away, and Lee doesn't get burned as a true freshman.
