He quoted two, but says he spoke to multiple people. If he spoke to six or 12 or 14, did you expect him to quote them all in the article? He took the best quotes, but we have no idea how many he spoke to.

This is what the article said:

Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports spoke with at least two prominent athletic directors at Power Five schools, who both expressed skepticism about a college football season this fall.

What should be expected is honest reporting, which would include telling the reader how many ADs Dodd spoke to. All the reader is told as that Dodd spoke with at least two ADs. That's it. Not mentioning the number, an easy thing to include in one sentence, creates the impression that Dodd only spoke with two ADs or that there is some sort of agenda driving the story, which appears to be the case.
