Still very useful for terminal cancer patients though id rather have them on MS Contin

I had a neighbor a few years ago find cancer all throughout his body. Nine days later he was dead. Sometime in those nine days when he was on fentanyl in the hospital, he sent me a text at midnight asking me to check on his dogs. They didn’t have any dogs. I mentioned this to his wife months later after he had passed. She said in his final days he was talking about the dogs that he had while he was a kid.

Agree in general, though I'd add ASCs and home hospice exceptions.

I think it's appropriate in the prehospital setting in the presence of major trauma.

Many EMS/FD providers have removed morphine and replaced it with ketamine for minor analgesic and fentanyl for major.
