I've read that the Russians were paying very close attention to how Reagan handled this crisis. Would he stick to his guns, and fire a large swath of controllers, or would he knuckle under and give in?

Knuckle In like he did a few years later after the Beirut Embassy & Marine barracks bombings killed over 300 Americans he put in harms way?
