I believe the Miami Herald's interest in the Epstein case is older than Trump's interest in the presidency. If I'm not mistaken, the Herald was trying to get files related to Epstein since the initial plea agreement.
And the logic that he was bringing attention to Acosta by hiring him makes absolutely no fricking sense.

Trump has been rumored to be running since sometime in the 80s. Here's a link to a 1988 Oprah interview where he talks about it, and says he doesn't think the country is bad off enough yet to need him.

I'm not all in on the Trump was a spy etc etc, but he did run in some elite circles for a long time, and saw a lot of shite. And those people aren't his friends anymore.
