Your eyes must be far better than mine. I don't see enough detail to express an opinion on that point, either way.

I did watch the contemporaneous video again, and I do not see an extended bolt in it. Again, however, the image quality is too poor for a definitive statement.

You need to get them checked then. It’s obvious when you zoom in. If the gate was unlocked, that latch would have been retracted into the lock and at least part flush with the frame. It is obviously not retracted.

There is no halfway with a keyed lock. It’s retracted.. or its not. It is not.

But this argue this like you are.... Maybe the protesters went back and straightened the pin that goes into the concrete.
