Has anyone tried to use an air fryer for catfish?

Used it on a mess of bass the other night. I coated with bread crumbs, drizzled a small amount of avocado oil on it since I was out of butter, and air fried at 400 for around 13 minutes. Seemed a bit overcooked but I still enjoyed it.

You can actually use the regular blue bag La. Fish Fry.

Just have to do 2 things ...

1. Coat it with straight egg instead of egg/milk/mustard/cold water wash. I just toss them in a bowl with 1 cracked egg and mix it all up to get them coated and slimy/sticky.You need that coating to be really glued to the fish because it's not going into hot grease. Air frying with a weakly applied coating can have the same effect as putting a piece of battered fish in some oil that isn't hot enough ... it can fall off by the time it starts to crisp and hold form.

2. After you coat them with the fish fry, give them a quick spray of some Pam or other brand Canola cooking spray ... then fry them bad boys in your air fryer.

That little tiny bit of canola oil sprayed on the outside of the batter allows the air circulating around it in that fryer to "fry" that coating and give you the same "fried" crispiness. Some naysayers will tell you "it's still fried in oil if you do that." It's no different amount of oil as if you sauteed the fish in a skillet with a little Pam. This way it tasted the same as fried fish though.
