This is the thing that blows my mind about the vaccine debates. Modern psychiatry didn’t really exist until the 20th century. Hell, the first edition of the DSM wasn’t even published until 1952. The stigma around seeking help with developmental disorders still lingers today. The rise in autism diagnoses since the 50’s shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone.
