Your analogy used to be valid. Nowadays, I’m not so sure. Black “leadership “ in the realm of academia have used social media to sew hatred towards the flag, the anthem, and all things deemed tied to “American values” (you know...the list of items put forth by the SMITHSONIAN illustrating how racist whites exhibit their bigotry).
It is sad to say, but a growing portion of our population is falling for this bullshite. I am glad you don’t count yourself amongst those that have been brainwashed.
As for Democrat’s respecting the flag and the anthem, I would say that those Dems located in the rural areas do. They are typically hard working, family centered folks. Urban Democrat’s seem to be almost universally either angry at the world or full of self loathing. The self hatred seems to be manifested in behaviors that I would associate with mental health issues. At least that is my experience.
