30x40 Shop vs. 4 Car Garage

I'm in the process of building a new house and was wondering what would be more cost effective. A 30x40 shop or just building the house with a 4 car garage.
The shop would have to have a brick veneer on the front but other than that there aren't many restrictions. Just trying to have a space for my boat, tools, mower, etc. And not break the bank.

You likely pay less per sf for the shop than attached garage.

Build the shop, it will be cheaper. Design it with at least 12’ walls and the ability to add a lean-to off the side or rear in the future

Adding 2 more car garage is only adding about 500 sf. A 30x40 shop is 1200 sf.

You will not have control over the garage. The shop will be yours. DONE.
