If we cancel the season or the SEC cancels the season, our contract with Texas is over. They would not owe us a game.

Have you read the contract? I'm guessing there's easily some sort of natural disaster/act of God clause in there that would prevent that. And I'm pretty sure a global pandemic would qualify as a natural disaster/act of God.

I agree that if LSU or the SEC cancels the season the contract could become void. But what about if the Texas governor cancels Texas season? Or JBE cancels the LSU season? Or if the NCAA says no college football period? What happens then? I'll be honest, I don't know, but I seriously doubt it gets Texas out of the contract. Unless of course Texas is willing to buy their way out of the contract and with college athletics in trouble as it is I'm guessing Texas wouldn't want to do that. If the lawyers for LSU are worth anything (and who knows on that, lol) I'm guessing a buyout for either side would be cost prohibitive.

My thing would be if I was LSU make a good faith effort with Texas to try to reschedule for a later year. It would be best for both parties involved and maybe even put in there that if Texas agrees to move the game to another year that LSU will play Texas in a neutral site game in Dallas at some point with all the money generated going to Texas.
